Hearing and Responding to God's Voice

Susan Robb

God calls us to a life that we could never imagine on our own.

Samuel, Esther, Jonah…they all lived pretty ordinary lives…until they didn’t. In Called: Hearing and Responding to God’s Voice, author Susan Robb shows us how God interrupts the lives of ordinary men and women, calling and empowering them to lives of service they never would have imagined on their own. And she shows us that the same God who called six of the Bible’s most iconic characters calls us, too, to bring hope and transformation to the world. Discover how to hear and respond to the unique call God is placing on your life.

Session overviews:

In Session 1, Susan Robb discusses how we often feel unworthy for God’s call. She uses the story of Abraham and Sarah to illustrate how God’s call is in everyone’s life.

In Session 2, Susan Robb talks about God’s call in the life of Samuel. She then goes on to explore how we should always listen for God’s call in our own lives and the importance of surrounding ourselves with others who can help us hear that call.

In Session 3, Susan Robb tells the story of Esther and Mordecai. She discusses how, like Esther, we are often called to address particular issues in the present day of our lives. God calls us to speak into these issues even if doing so is uncomfortable.

In Session 4, Susan tells the story of Jonah and illustrates what it is like to feel reluctant to accept God’s call. She goes on to tell how we can often feel reluctant to accept that God’s forgiveness and love are for all in God’s creation.

In Session 5, Susan discusses the story of Mary Magdalene. She uses the story to illustrate how we often find God through service and through other people.

In Session 6, Susan Robb talks about the beloved disciple at the last supper. She uses the story of the beloved disciple’s relationship with Jesus to show us that we are all called to be a part of the family of God.
